The term “Kung Fu” is widely used to describe Chinese martial arts and is actually a very broad term. It does not describe just one way of fighting but many different techniques and styles. Chinese martial arts were developed in order that students could defend themselves in both day to day life and as part of their military training. Hand to hand combat and weapons practice were important components in the training of Chinese soldiers. Martial arts: arts used by the military, soon became an important part of the Country’s culture.

Weng Chun Kung Fu places a great emphasis on simplicity and directness, and was developed to counter all the other different types of Kung Fu. The creation of this new system focused on optimising human physiological and bio-mechanical expression in combat. It is a truly sophisticated Chinese martial art which appeals to men and women of all ages.

Weng Chun Kung Fu trains students to fight in all phases of combat: kicks, strikes, locks, clinches, throws and ground fighting. Long and short weapons are also used within a complete set of strategies and tactics. Students also practice forms, which are a meditative, solitary exercise that develop self-awareness, balance, relaxation and sensitivity. Students use them to practice the fundamental movements and the correct force generation of Weng Chun.

San silk, or separate forms, can be broadly grouped into three categories which:

- Focus on building body structure through basic punching, standing, turning, and stepping drills.
- Develop fundamental arm cycles and changes, firmly ingraining the cardinal tools for interception and adaptation.
- Improve sensitivity training and combination techniques.

It is from these that all Weng Chun techniques are derived. These are practical and effective, and many target vulnerable areas of the body such as the eyes, throat, groin or stomach. In Weng Chun the least amount of force necessary is used in any fighting situation. Small movements can be used to defeat larger ones and all can be used in different combinations. This means that if one method of attack fails the student can move smoothly into an alternative attack. All this is possible because of balance, body structure and relaxation.

Weng Chun Kung Fu is taught mostly in Europe. With  Germany having the biggest schools, there are also schools in London, United Kingdom, Denmark, Holland and Italy.
