Self-Introduction - Martial Arts Fan from New Jersey

    Hi, everyone,

I am a Chinese martial arts enthusiast. I studied Shaolin, Qin-Na, Sanda, JKD, as well as Yang style Taiji and Qidong when I was very young. Now that I am no longer in my 20's, I commit myself to internal arts and am currently studying Chen Style Hun Yuan Taiji, developed by the late Grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang.

I look forward to learning from the community and making my contributions as well.

welcome to this small quiet ma forum..
taiji is indeed the grandfather of ma..

it was a revelation to me as a traditional okinawa
karate student to read books by dr yang jwe wing
on yang style taiji, including genuine applications etc..

interesting site for taiji, including videos of slow forms
and weapons etc [incl chen style] at taiji.de

Thank you for the welcome, shisoshin!

I learned Yang style in the past, but I was a restless, hyper-active, and impatient boy then... Anyway, I am currently studying Chen style Hunyuan Tai Chi, a "softened" Chen style, which appears to be moving in the direction of Yang style. So in a sense, I am getting back to where I am starting...

Here is my teacher's website: http://www.worldtaiji.com. He teaches regular classes in NJ, NY, and CT.

Speaking of Okinawa Karate - any good website or youtube video that can give me a flavor of your art?

your welcome.. the line of okinawa gojuryu to me comes thru
higaonna morio sensei hanshi head of IOGKF..

use higaonna sensei as a youtube search key
also together with traditional kata names
    saifa, seiyunchin, shisochin, sanseru, seipai
or kururunfa [my highest kata] or sanchin
the basic kata of gojuryu [more to it than
meets the eye] or tensho a high level
breathing kata containing the 'go' but
    also emphasising the 'ju' aspect..

notice a nice form demonstrated of chen style
56 form 'kata' on taiji.de also demonstrating
elements of whiplike motion, planting mass,
and 'kime' contained in traditional gojuryu..
